There is a food forest installation day coming up at Paul Candy’s Helensville farm and we are using it to crash test a more accessible model for hands-on learning.
Over the past two years, we have had the opportunity to meet many people who are turned on by the possibilities that syntropic food forests represent; resilience, living soil and health filled abundance in the back yard.
We have run class room sessions, propagated plants, managed established systems and planted brand new ones. We are glad about how it has worked out these last two years, the skills and knowledge are spreading. It is working. And we are also looking for opportunities to make it more accessible.
Particularly we want to see more systems implemented with teams of people where learning and getting stuff done happen together. This way a food forest is planted, friends are made and each participant goes home as a seed themselves, full of gleanings from the day, including the priceless, hands in the soil experience of what is possible.
So for Paul Candy’s upcoming food forest installation in Helensville, we are slashing the cost from $185 to just $50 per person and rather than Paul providing lunch, we ask that you bring something to share for a potluck meal.
