There is something special brewing a few kilometres north along the coast from Whangamata later this month. As you read this, the last few people are putting their hands up to join the other enthusiasts who are gathering for an immersive learning experience in Syntropic Agroforestry.
The venue is Hillbrook Estate, where you get to stay in a nine-bedroom Scottish mansion for less than the cost of the local motel – or you can bring a camper or pitch a tent if you want to keep the cost right down. Either way, the setting is stunning, with opportunities to soak in a heated pool, relax in the spa, take a short walk to the beach, or a wander around the working regenerative farm.
And then there is Janet Redmond, who, between syntropy sessions, will lead us into the realm of inner and outer relating. Janet brings a fun and gentle style to this work, which is as essential to regenerative culture as plants, water and living soil are.
